“Peapod” Cottage
“Peapod” Cottage. 336 square feet plus 72 square feet of covered porch. One story. One bedroom, one three-quarter bathroom. Kitchenette, eating space, sitting space. Designed to national codes — check with your local code authority to verify that this would be permitted in your locale.
We designed this because we saw that many “Tiny Houses” are actually recreational vehicles on wheels, with no fixed address, often not meeting basic building standards. A friend asked, “Can you design a very-compact home, with a separate bedroom, that meets the International Residential Code, can be permanently connected to utilities, and can have a permanent address?” So we did. This could be a guest cottage, accessory dwelling, or snug home for a single person or couple.
